Where it all began....
Outback Yack Flower Farm was founded by Ben and Mel Quick in 2021, nestled in the rolling hills of Yackandandah in North East Victoria.
Originally envisioned as a retirement project, our dream of a commercial cut flower garden came to life earlier than planned, fast-tracked by the global pandemic.
Today, we cultivate over two acres of Australian native and Proteaceae species, with new plantings continually enriching our landscape. While Proteas were our starting point, we adore the incredible textures and diversity offered by Australian natives.
Sustainable farming is at the heart of everything we do. By embracing regenerative practices, we nurture healthier, stronger plants producing a superior product and ensuring the long-term viability of our farm for generations to come.
The Dream Team
Mel Quick
Floral Farmer & Harvestor
Mel loves a degustation menu paired with good wine. She owns a ridiculous amount of sharpies and gets irate with slow drivers.
She cries when watching most movies, loves dogs and is usually the last one up at a party.
Chili
The Bossο»Ώ
Chili dreams of meal times, will seek out any available sunshine and loves chasing rodents.
She can snuggle under a doona undetected and is the happiest when she is on your lap.
Ben Quick
Farm Maintenance, Propagator Extraordinaire & Flower Delivery Driver
Ben is a big fan of loud shirts, any social occasion and he gets very excited each time his monthly craft beer subscription arrives.
Known as Captain Risky, Ben doesn't believe it is a party unless Fireball is flowing and he will always appoint himself as the DJ.ο»Ώ
Arlo
Head of Security
Arlo is a happy go lucky guy and is high on life.
When he is not taking selfies, he keeps himself busy swimming and surveying the flower farm. He is obsessive with retrieving, constantly bringing you his treasures. Belly rubs and pats are always welcome.
